On April 24, 2017 members of the Ste-Agathe Community Development Inc. were honoured as recipients of the Premier’s Volunteer Service Award 2017 under the community group category.

It was a great honour for the current Board of directors to receive this award but we would be remiss if we did not also recognize all those committee members who preceded us including the many, many volunteers.

To those volunteers who were directors on previous boards; to those who chose to chair these boards & committees; to the many who worked the canteen at our Cheyenne Summer Festival; to the volunteers who worked the registration table for the Ste-Agathe Charity Golf Tournament; to those who gave of their time to cut grass and plant seedlings in Cartier Recreational Park; to those who flooded the ice at the outdoor rink; to the many who assisted in our fight against the 1997 Flood of the century; to all of you, we owe you a huge debt of gratitude.

These are just a very few of the numerous tasks that many, many volunteers have completed over the years. We have been reminded through media over the past week that this was the 20th year anniversary of the devastation caused by the Flood of the Century. As a community we have shown resilience and perseverance and for that today we are stronger.

To all our community volunteers, we are very proud to share this award with you.

Ste. Agathe CDI and Francofonds Announce Community Donations

The Ste. Agathe CDI recently hosted their AGM in early December. The event showcased the community’s spirit of giving by announcing record breaking donations for our community. Officials were on hand to present cheques to local groups: Ste. Agathe Women’s Hockey, CPEF Sainte-Agathe, Le Coin Magique, Ste. Agathe Arena, and the Ste Agathe Cultural Centre. The donations were generated through the Ste. Agathe CDI Golf Tournament and Francofonds.

2016 AGM Announced for Ste. Agathe CDI and Ritchot CDC

The Ste-Agathe Community Development Inc. (CDI) will be hosting their annual general meeting on Monday, December 5th at 7:00 pm at the Ste-Agathe Community Hall. This meeting will be immediately followed by the Ritchot Community Development Corporation (CDC) annual general meeting. Please visit the links here for a copy of the proposed draft agenda for the Ste-Agathe CDI AGM as well as the Ritchot AGM invite and amendments. Everyone is welcome and please feel free to forward this invitation to any interested parties.

The Ste. Agathe CDI works on a variety of community initiatives. Projects include fundraising for local community groups, enhancement and maintenance to Cartier Park, and the attraction of new business to Riel Industrial Park. The volunteer committee also promotes tourism and local business.

Ste. Agathe Main Street Workshop

The RM of Ritchot is hosting a Main Street Revitalization Workshop on Tuesday, November 14th from 7:30 – 9:30pm at the Ste. Agathe Community and Cultural Centre. Community stake holders and citizens of Ste. Agathe are invited to attend, refreshments will be served. Please RSVP Lesley at, call or text 204.803.2871.

Share your thoughts for Pembina Trail and ensure it remains a vibrant business district. The project will explore design features that enhance walkability and flow for multiple modes of transportation such as cars and bikes. The goal is to design Pembina Trail so that it brings the community together and helps drive economic growth. The RM of Ritchot has hired HTFC Planning and Design to help us create a unique sense of place for our main street. HTFC will guide the workshop and help Ste. Agathe in reaching consensus around the direction of preferred development. We encourage everyone to attend, transportation can be arranged. The design phase will reach the greatest success level with everyone’s input.

2016 looking fantastic for Cartier Park

The Ste. Agathe Cartier Park is getting ready for the summer and we’re anxious to host the Cheyenne Family Fest, a Ritchot Chamber of Commerce event, campers, family functions and a couple of weddings. The park has recently purchased a new commercial lawn mower that will prove to make the park upkeep quicker and easier for our volunteers. We have also just been approved by the Ste. Agathe Community Development Corp to commence the construction of an interlocking patio and fire pit area that will surely be a beautiful feature and be an excellent feature for the renters.

The park is in need of a couple of things, although our volunteers do an excellent job at maintaining the yards, we need to trim trees along Hwy 305 to make it easier for tilling the soil and it would be a tedious task with only a few people. We are looking for twelve to fifteen volunteers to help us on Thursday May 19 from 6:30pm till approximately 8:30pm. We would need four chainsaws, branch shears and saws to do this job quickly and efficiently. Please respond to if you could lend a hand and weather permitting we’ll complete this task on that day.

Also, the Cartier Park is looking to hire a part time summer student to work at the park. The tasks would include grass cutting, yard maintenance, camping fee collection, garbage maintenance, cleaning etc. The hours will be flexible and some occasional weekend work will be required. The student would be working alongside volunteers as well as alone. We require an employee between the ages of 15-19 years old that has experience with lawn maintenance equipment, hardworking and dependable. Save the Date! Ste. Agathe’s AGM to be held November 9th, 2015

Get involved … help shape the future of Ste. Agathe’s vibrant community by serving as an elected board member with Ste. Agathe’s Community Development Committee. We currently have an opening for a board position (two year term). To be eligible, nominees are required to be existing shareholders of Ste. Agathe Community Development Inc.

The committee works on a variety of community initiatives. Recent projects include the rapid growth of the Riel Industrial Park, the successful development of the Promenade Trail river path, tourism and local business marketing through a new community website, and the shelter enhancement to Cartier Park. Visit the Ste. Festival d’Été Cheyenne Summer Fest July 17th & 18th 2015

Festival d’Été Cheyenne Summer Fest is Ste-Agathe’s signature community event planned for July 17 & 18, 2015. The Summer Fest boasts a kick-off parade; many live musical performances, children’s’ entertainers as well as many activities for children. It will also feature a Family Baseball Tournament. If you enjoy playing a friendly game of baseball why not register to participate? It’s open to everyone young and old.

AGM Highlights

The AGM was an opportunity to report on past activities and successes. President, Jacques Courcelles set the tone by touching on the Board’s commitment to long-term thinking. He focused on developing strategies and taking actions that leave long term legacies. Examples of this are reflected in the continued development of Promenade Sur La Rouge River Trail, and Cartier Park. Claude Lemoine shared the fundraising efforts of this years Golf Tournament and Shaun Crew, Chairman presented an update on the flourishing Riel Industrial Park. Guy Gagnon represented the Francofonds Foundation and presented a cheque to La jeune enface. A heartfelt moment came when the family of Justin Robert spoke to the community on the success of the foundation named in his honour.

The community welcomed Ritchot’s Mayor Jackie Hunt in her new role. The Mayor shared her excitement and vision for the incredible community we call home. Councillor Jeannot Robert presented an overview of regional activities and commented on an impressive development with the proposed Ste. Agathe Fire Hall. Ritchot’s Interim Community Economic Development Officer shared her aptitude with an introduction to community stakeholders. The CDEM’s continued support was reinforced through the comments of President Edmond LaBossière, Executive Director Louis Allain, and Joel Lemoine.

In terms of financial reporting the 2013-14 Year-End Financial Statements were presented by Nicole Sorin, reviewed and passed.
